Originally from Pleasant View, Utah, Dr. Richards served a two year mission to Haiti for his church. He then received his Bachelor of Science from Weber State University before moving onto Ohio State University, where he earned his Doctor in Dental Surgery, Master of Science, and his certificate in orthodontics. He was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society, and he graduated in the top 10% of his dental class.
With the specialized knowledge and training that comes from working under some of the most well-known and published orthodontists in the world, Dr. Richards is happy to help patients of all ages achieve straighter smiles than ever before.
Dr. Richards is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO),Utah Association of Orthodontists (UAO), and is serving as the president of the Ogden Academy of Dentistry. He is also board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO), a feat that requires the completion of a rigorous, voluntary 3-part exam that demonstrates an orthodontist’s ability to effectively finish cases to an exceptional standard.
Other accomplishments include serving a two year mission to Haiti! There’s a lot to love about his chosen career, but some of his favorite aspects include interacting and getting to know patients and their families, seeing patients gain more and more confidence in their smiles over time, and showing patients their before and after pictures. They often can’t believe how their teeth used to look in the past before treatment, and their excitement and happy disbelief is always fun for Dr. Richards to experience firsthand. He especially loves getting to see his younger patients grow and mature over the years!
Dr. Richards is married to his high school sweetheart Candice, and together, they have four children, three girls and a boy. When he’s not busy at the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, fly-fishing, shooting shotguns, water sports, mountain biking, skiing, and cooking. Follow Dr. Michael Richards on Google+.
