Learn why this treatment could be the perfect fit for your smile by calling Farr West Orthodontics today.

Why do I need braces?

There could be a variety of reasons that your smile needs braces, but the fact is that straight teeth are easier to clean, look more appealing, increase longevity of the teeth, improve function, and help self-confidence! Research has proven that people with well-aligned teeth are perceived as smarter, more confident, and more attractive than those with crooked teeth.

Dr. Richards recommends braces for patients with:

  • Crooked teeth or alignment problems
  • Crowded teeth
  • Problems with dental occlusion (the way the top and bottom row of teeth meet)
  • Underbites, overbites, or crossbites
  • Open bites

Braces Made Easy

The team at Farr West Orthodontics will thoroughly assess your smile before recommending that braces be placed. Dr. Richards will take into account the referral from your dentist, if you have one, and evaluate the images of your teeth and jaw. He can go over the basics of using braces to meet your oral health needs and how he expects orthodontic therapy will help your smile.

Renewed Confidence

Perfect for Any Age

Braces consist of a series of brackets which are placed on the teeth, and wires that attach to these brackets. Throughout the course of your treatment, Dr. Richards will adjust this system a little at a time to reposition teeth into their proper place. Braces are often the most efficient way to correct smiles. Dr. Richards uses this orthodontic treatment for children, teens, and adults. Many of our older patients worry that braces will give them an immature appearance, but today’s braces are created to effectively straighten your teeth in a small amount of time and more and more adults are wearing braces.  We also offer ceramic braces and Invisalign for adults and mature teens! Ask during your initial exam.

Traditional Placement of Braces

1

Dr. Richards positions a brace on each tooth based on how your teeth need to move to give you perfectly straight teeth and a great bite.

2

Wires are placed and you get to choose colors to put on your braces (if desired). Your teeth will begin moving!

3

Approximately every six weeks you will return for a short adjustment appointment. Dr. Richards will evaluate your progress and adjust your braces as needed.

4

When we have achieved our goals and you have a beautiful, healthy smile it will be time to get them off. Dr. Richards will give you different retainers options to keep them straight.

Indirect Placement of Braces

1

A digital impression/scan of your mouth is taken. Dr. Richards digitally places the braces on each of your teeth based on how your teeth need to move.

2

Extremely accurate custom bonding trays/retainers are printed on our 3D printer. These trays are then used to place all of your upper or lower braces on at the same time. That means a shorter appointment for you!
